Russia Urges Immediate, Unconditional Gaza Ceasefire at UN Security Council

Russia has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and ensure humanitarian aid access. Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s Deputy Representative, made the appeal during a UN Security Council meeting on Palestine.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia is advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, citing the dire humanitarian situation.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on Palestine, Dmitry Polyanskiy, Deputy Representative of Russia, stated that ceasefire agreements have failed to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. Since late September, over 40 Palestinians have been killed and 800 others injured by Israeli security forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Polyanskiy stressed the importance of the continued operation of UNRWA as the primary source of support for Palestinians. He added that attacks against UNRWA facilities and personnel must not go unpunished.

The Russian representative urged mediators to find a comprehensive, negotiated solution for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Russia has consistently called for an immediate, unconditional, and comprehensive ceasefire, along with guaranteed access to humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip.
