MIT Nuclear Energy Professor Shot Dead in Massachusetts Home

A prominent nuclear energy professor at MIT was fatally shot in his Massachusetts home, prompting a homicide investigation by local and state police.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a leading nuclear energy professor at MIT was shot and killed in his home in Massachusetts on Monday night. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Professor Paulo Ladeira, 47, was found shot in his Brooklyn neighborhood home, a wealthy area near Boston. He was transported to a local hospital where he died on Tuesday, according to authorities.

MIT released a statement confirming Ladeira’s death and highlighting his extensive contributions to the institution. Ladeira, a Portugal native, was a faculty member in the Nuclear Science and Engineering and Physics departments. He also served as the director of the Plasma Science and Fusion Center.

“Our hearts are with his wife, family, students, friends, and colleagues as we process this shocking loss,” the MIT statement said.

The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, Brooklyn Police, and MIT Police are jointly conducting the investigation.
