Muqtada al-Sadr Suspends Military Operations in Two Iraqi Provinces

Iraqi Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr has ordered the suspension of military activities for his Saraya al-Salam group in the provinces of Basra and Wasit, following repeated violations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement in Iraq, issued a statement on Tuesday ordering Tahsin al-Hamidawi to temporarily cease all activities of the Saraya al-Salam group.

The statement directs that the group’s headquarters in Basra and Al-Kut, the capital of Wasit province, be closed for six months. Al-Sadr stated that these measures are intended to address misconduct and repeated damage to the reputation of the forces.

Al-Sadr emphasized that the standing and image of these forces are more important to him than their operations. He also expressed his support for disciplined and vigilant members against violations and attempts to incite sedition by corrupt elements.
