CodePink: U.S. Actions Against Venezuela Are Belligerent and Neocolonial

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CodePink, a U.S.-based anti-war organization, has issued a statement criticizing Donald Trump’s policies towards Venezuela.
In its statement, the non-profit organization described the actions of the U.S. President as provocative and belligerent, characterizing them as an overt threat of war, collective punishment, and an effort to plunder Venezuelan resources.
CodePink stated that Trump’s declaration of a “complete blockade” of Venezuelan oil tankers, coupled with his assertion that Venezuela should return its oil, land, and assets to the U.S., reveals the true intent of this aggression: to exert neo-colonial influence and control over the country’s resources.
The organization, based in Washington, D.C., also argued that designating the Venezuelan government as a “foreign terrorist organization” and framing fentanyl as a “weapon of mass destruction” are propaganda tactics employed by the White House to justify war and bypass congressional approval.
CodePink urged the U.S. Congress and the international community to take immediate action to prevent further escalation of tensions in the Caribbean Sea and along the Venezuelan border.
The anti-war group emphasized in its statement that “Venezuela is not the property of the United States,” and its people are not obligated to submit to any foreign power.
