Zelensky to Attend European Council Meeting Amid Key EU Decisions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine will attend the European Council meeting in Brussels on Thursday.
Earlier reports indicated that EU leaders are likely to reach an agreement in principle during the December 18 meeting (Thursday) to seize Russian assets, delegating technical details to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.
The European Parliament recently approved the EU’s plan to gradually phase out gas imports from Russia by the fall of 2027, removing a previous legal obstacle to enacting the ban.
European legislators voted 500 in favor, 120 against, with 32 abstentions on the proposal.
The ban still requires formal approval from EU ministers, who are expected to hold a meeting on the matter early next year.
Some observers anticipate that European countries will approve the agreement without changes.
