Maduro Accuses US of Seeking Puppet Regime in Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stated Wednesday that the U.S. is employing a divide-and-conquer strategy to undermine the sovereignty of Venezuela and Colombia. He urged Colombians to unite against violations of international law.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of seeking to impose a puppet government in Venezuela, which he believes would not last more than 48 hours. Speaking on Wednesday, Maduro asserted that “imperialism” is attempting to violate the sovereignty of both Venezuela and Colombia through a policy of “divide and rule.”

Maduro emphasized that Venezuela has achieved its highest level of national unity through respect for sovereignty, independence, and the right to peace and life. He reiterated that Venezuela will never become a colony and will continue to trade all its products with the world.

He also called on the people of Colombia to unite to prevent the violation of international laws by what he termed “colonialist governments of the North.” Maduro expressed confidence that the Venezuelan nation and its army are fully united to guarantee their rights to oil, minerals, and all of their territory.

Maduro concluded by stating that the U.S. is making war-mongering and colonialist demands in an attempt to change the government.

The National Assembly of Venezuela has voiced its support for the government against perceived threats from the United States, issuing a statement affirming its backing for the national government’s efforts to ensure peace, independence, and sovereignty over Venezuelan territory.

The Assembly further stated that it supports the national government in all measures taken to counter threats from the U.S. government and that the Venezuelan people will not be defeated. They aim to break the “imperialist blockade” and guarantee Venezuela’s territorial integrity along with peace.

Meanwhile, the ALBA alliance has firmly opposed the U.S. announcement regarding the decision to impose a full blockade on tankers heading to Venezuela, condemning the U.S. statements as an attempt to steal Venezuela’s resources. The ALBA-TCP, or Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, currently consists of 10 core members from Latin America and the Caribbean, including Venezuela (founder), Cuba (founder), Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Grenada, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Iran and Haiti participate as observer members in the alliance’s meetings.
