UN: Over 1,000 Civilians Killed in Sudan’s Darfur Region in April

The United Nations reports that over 1,000 civilians were killed in Sudan’s Darfur region during April following the capture of a camp by Rapid Support Forces. The UN also warns that deliberate targeting of civilians could constitute war crimes.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Nations has reported that more than 1,000 civilians were killed in April during the takeover of a camp in Darfur, Sudan, by Rapid Support Forces.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has also stated that the intentional killing of civilians or individuals not involved in the conflict in Sudan may constitute war crimes.

The announcement comes as the Sudanese Doctors Network emphasized they have recorded the deaths of 234 medical personnel and injuries to 507 others since the start of the war in April 2023.

The Sudanese non-governmental organization further reported that over 59 medical personnel remain missing with unknown whereabouts, and 73 others have been detained in the Nyala region of southwestern Sudan.
