US Official Marco Rubio Repeats Baseless Allegations Against Venezuela

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted on Friday that President Donald Trump is convinced of the need to modernize US foreign policy. Rubio stated the necessity of building a stronger foreign policy, defining priorities, and transforming foreign policy elements into instruments of influence and power.
Rubio claimed that institutional reforms in foreign policy have begun and that foreign aid should align with national interests. He stated a commitment to addressing global conflicts, even those not directly threatening the United States.
Without acknowledging US support for Israeli actions in Gaza, Rubio called the situation in Gaza a major challenge and touted the ceasefire as a significant achievement. He noted ongoing efforts toward a final agreement to end the conflict in Gaza.
Rubio mentioned Pakistan’s offer to participate in an international stabilization force in Gaza but acknowledged unresolved issues and ongoing work to establish a peace council. He stated progress in implementing the first phase of the ceasefire plan and moving toward subsequent phases.
Regarding the Ukraine war, Rubio said President Trump views it as an inherited conflict and that the US seeks a mutually acceptable resolution. He claimed significant progress toward ending the war in Ukraine.
Rubio described China as a major country with a significant geopolitical role and expressed a desire for cooperation without compromising commitments to Japan and South Korea.
Accusing Venezuela of being the largest source of instability in the Caribbean, Rubio further alleged Venezuela’s cooperation with Iran and Hezbollah, close ties between the Venezuelan government and drug cartels, and its involvement in terrorism. He claimed Venezuela is a starting point for drug trafficking into the US.
Expressing disapproval of Hezbollah’s defense of Lebanon against Israeli aggression, Rubio stated the US does not want Hezbollah to regain the ability to threaten Israel. He voiced hope for a strong Lebanese government and for negotiations between Lebanon and Israel to prevent further conflict.
Regarding Sudan, Rubio claimed the goal is to stop the conflict and achieve a humanitarian ceasefire by the start of next year. He asserted efforts to bring the conflicting parties to the negotiating table and halt the flow of weapons into Sudan from abroad.
