US Pushes for Unity Between Saudi and Emirati Proxies in Yemen Amid Rising Tensions

The US is mediating between Saudi and Emirati-backed factions in Yemen to forge a united front against Ansar Allah forces, as the Southern Transitional Council expands its control in eastern regions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), backed by the UAE, is consolidating its influence in eastern Yemen under the pretext of securing Hadramawt and Al Mahra provinces. Analysts suggest this move aims to advance toward northern territories, potentially escalating clashes with Ansar Allah forces.

Recent diplomatic efforts by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken included discussions with Emirati counterparts on stabilizing southern Yemen. Informed sources report the UAE seeks to unify its proxies against Ansar Allah, while Saudi Arabia pressures Emirati-aligned groups to withdraw from contested areas.

The US Ambassador to Yemen has held multiple meetings with the so-called Presidential Leadership Council and STC representatives, emphasizing coalition-building against Ansar Allah. Meanwhile, Emirati proxies seized control of remaining institutions in Al Mahra and deployed new military equipment to Hadramawt.

Saudi warplanes continue sorties over Hadramawt, with surveillance drones reportedly monitoring Emirati proxy movements. Riyadh’s demands for Emirati withdrawal from both provinces have failed, raising concerns about potential clashes involving Saudi-backed militias with aerial support from the kingdom.
