Russia’s Lavrov Denounces Confrontational Adventures in Africa, Pledges Enhanced Cooperation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has condemned attempts to drag Africa into confrontational adventures, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to expanding security and economic ties with African nations during the second Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during the plenary session of the second Russia-Africa Partnership Ministerial Conference in Cairo on Saturday that Russia and African leaders expect concrete measures to enhance cooperation from the meeting.

Lavrov emphasized Russia’s commitment to leveraging vast collaborative potential with African countries, while denouncing as unacceptable the policies of certain nations aimed at involving Africa in confrontational ventures.

The Russian diplomat further declared Moscow’s support for African countries in security matters and counterterrorism efforts. He extended an invitation to African nations without diplomatic representation in Russia to consider establishing missions in Moscow. Lavrov also highlighted the importance of creating a mechanism for mutual settlements in national currencies between Russia and African states.
