Venezuela’s Defense Minister Accuses US of Waging War Through Lies and Military Threats

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López has condemned what he described as a ‘comprehensive battle against lies, slander, distortion of reality, interventionism, military threats, and psychological warfare’ by the United States. The statement came in response to escalating tensions between Caracas and Washington.
The Wall Street Journal, citing a US official, reported that the White House is attempting to justify the seizure of an oil tanker near Venezuelan waters as a legal measure rather than an act of war. The official stated that US Navy units supported Coast Guard personnel in the operation to detain the vessel.
The White House has emphasized the Coast Guard’s role in the seizure, framing it as a lawful enforcement action. However, Venezuelan authorities view the move as part of a broader campaign of pressure against the government of President Nicolás Maduro.
