Iraq’s Hezbollah Brigades Reject Disarmament Claims, Vow to Retain Arms

Iraq’s Hezbollah Brigades have issued a statement opposing any talks of disarmament or state monopoly on weapons, asserting their right to resist until foreign forces withdraw.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq‘s Hezbollah Brigades have firmly rejected any discussions about disarming or restricting weapons to the government, declaring resistance a legitimate right. In a statement, the group emphasized that their arms would remain in the hands of their fighters until all occupying NATO and Turkish forces leave Iraq.

The statement underscored the need to safeguard Iraq’s sovereignty and holy sites from threats posed by elements linked to ISIS and Peshmerga forces. It stressed that full sovereignty, national security, and the prevention of foreign interference are prerequisites for any talks about state control. The group added that anyone choosing to surrender their weapons before achieving full sovereignty does so as a personal decision.

This follows a recent statement by Abdul Qadir al-Karbalai, deputy military commander of the Al-Nujaba Movement, who reaffirmed continued resistance against U.S. forces. He condemned the ongoing U.S. military presence as a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and opposed any delays in implementing the agreement for foreign troop withdrawal.

Previously, Faiq Zaidan, head of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, had reported positive responses from armed groups regarding state monopoly.
