Preterm Births in Gaza Surge by 60% Amid Ongoing Conflict and Medical Shortages

The number of preterm births in Gaza has risen sharply by 60% due to the ongoing war, while medical facilities face severe shortages, forcing hospitals to halt surgeries.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the director of the children’s department at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Ahmad Al-Farra, reported a 60% increase in preterm births in Gaza as a result of the ongoing conflict. The blockade and lack of medical supplies have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, with Kuwait Hospital in Khan Younis announcing the suspension of surgical procedures due to insufficient resources.

Hospital officials emphasized that the closure of crossings and the absence of humanitarian and medical aid have led to the halt of surgeries, warning that the facility may soon cease operations entirely. They cautioned that the continued deterioration of conditions poses a dire threat to the lives of patients and the wounded.
