Egypt Denies Political Link to Gas Deal with Israel Amid Gaza Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has firmly rejected attempts to politicize the country’s gas agreement with Israel, stating it is strictly an economic and commercial deal between Egyptian, American, and Israeli companies. The minister’s comments came in response to reports speculating about President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s potential foreign travel coinciding with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States.
Abdelatty clarified that President Sisi has no international travel plans before the end of the current year. However, he confirmed that bilateral meetings between Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled for next year as part of their strategic relationship framework.
The foreign minister condemned efforts to connect the gas agreement with political positions, stressing that such attempts should not be used to influence Egypt’s domestic affairs. The deal has faced significant criticism amid Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, with protesters condemning the agreement with what they describe as the ‘Zionist regime’ during what they call a ‘bloody genocide’ in the Palestinian territory.
