Sudan Army Launches Airstrikes Against Rapid Support Forces Amid Escalating Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sudan’s army has carried out airstrikes against Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions in the Brunu area, northwest of Kadugli in South Kordofan state. The attacks follow RSF’s takeover of the region just a day prior.
South Kordofan has witnessed escalating armed confrontations between the Sudanese military and RSF in recent days. Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs has called for the RSF to be designated as a terrorist organization following their alleged attacks on Sudanese civilians.
Meanwhile, over 1,700 displaced persons, mostly women and children, have fled from the Hejlij area in western Kordofan to Kosti city. Humanitarian conditions in displacement camps are reported as dire, with severe food shortages.
The civil war in Sudan, which began in April 2023 over disputes regarding the integration of RSF into the national military, has already created 13 million displaced persons across the country.
