Hezbollah Official Warns Against Negotiations with Israel, Citing Further Concessions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Amin Sherri, a member of Lebanon‘s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, has warned that engaging in negotiations with Israel would result in further concessions rather than benefits for Lebanon. Sherri dismissed the effectiveness of American mediation, asserting that no such efforts have secured favorable terms for Lebanon from Israel.
Sherri also addressed the unconfirmed reports of Ammar al-Mousavi, Hezbollah’s foreign relations official, visiting Saudi Arabia, stating that an official announcement from either Saudi authorities or Hezbollah’s media office is awaited. He reiterated Hezbollah’s commitment to the Lebanese government’s sovereignty and its role in implementing the plan to deploy the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River.
Regarding Lebanon’s political and military developments, Sherri expressed skepticism about the international community’s seriousness in supporting the Lebanese Army, citing the postponement of the Paris Conference to February as evidence of this distrust. He emphasized that the responsibility for implementing UN Resolution 1701 lies with the Lebanese government.
Sherri further criticized the potential inclusion of Lebanon in the Abraham Accords, warning that alignment with the Zionist enemy under the ‘Greater Israel’ plan poses an existential threat to Lebanon. He described U.S. strategic efforts as primarily aimed at securing Israel’s regional security, particularly in Lebanon and Syria.
On reconstruction efforts, Sherri noted that Hezbollah has conducted a comprehensive assessment across Lebanon, estimating the cost of rebuilding homes and infrastructure, excluding commercial units, at over $4 billion.
