NATO Secretary General Warns of China-Russia Threat to Europe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has issued a stark warning about the potential for coordinated threats from China and Russia against Europe. In an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Stoltenberg stated that a military move by China against Taiwan would likely coincide with increased Russian aggression in Europe.
Stoltenberg highlighted the interconnected actions of Beijing and Moscow, asserting, “I am certain that if China initiates military action against Taipei, Russia will intensify its pressure on Europe. This is why we must be prepared.” He stressed the importance of providing security guarantees to Ukraine to prevent further attacks, adding, “We must ensure that after a ceasefire or peace agreement, Ukraine is never attacked again. Putin must understand that any aggression will have catastrophic consequences for him.”
The NATO chief outlined a multi-tiered strategy to bolster Ukraine’s defense. The first level involves ensuring the Ukrainian armed forces remain in optimal condition to defend the country, even after the war ends or a prolonged ceasefire is established. The second level includes a “coalition of volunteers” led by France and the UK, with participation from Germany and other nations, aimed at strengthening defensive capabilities to deter Putin. Some European countries have even expressed readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine.
Stoltenberg identified the third level as securing U.S. involvement, with the three-tiered approach designed to prevent further Russian aggression. He emphasized the necessity of enhancing NATO members’ defensive capabilities and maintaining Ukraine’s strength to counter Russia, warning that full Russian control over Ukraine would have far-reaching consequences for NATO.
