China Condemns US Seizure of Oil Tanker Off Venezuelan Coast as Violation of International Law

China’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the US seizure of an oil tanker near Venezuela, calling it a serious breach of international law, while reaffirming its opposition to unilateral sanctions.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, China‘s Foreign Ministry strongly criticized the United States on Monday for its continued maritime seizures off Venezuela’s coast, labeling the arbitrary detention of ships as a severe violation of international law. The ministry emphasized its opposition to unilateral and illegal sanctions, asserting Venezuela’s right to develop relations with other nations.
The statement followed reports that the US Coast Guard had intercepted an oil tanker near Venezuelan waters early Saturday local time, as confirmed by the US Secretary of Homeland Security. China’s stance underscores growing tensions over US enforcement actions in the region.
