Al-Azhar Sheikh Condemns Gaza Genocide, Rejects Neutrality on Palestinian Issue

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb of Al-Azhar declared the Palestinian crisis has reached a stage of injustice that precludes neutrality, condemning Israel’s actions as genocide during a meeting with Italy’s ambassador to Egypt.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, stated that the Palestinian issue has escalated to a dangerous level of injustice where neutrality is unacceptable. During talks with Augustino Palizze, Italy’s ambassador to Egypt, he emphasized the lack of genuine international will to implement a two-state solution, asserting that the situation now involves such severe violations of civil, religious, and ethical values that opposition is impossible.

Al-Tayeb highlighted the killing of innocent civilians and children, stressing that the current atrocities leave no room for indifference—either one opposes these crimes or becomes complicit. He described Israel’s offensive as not war but genocide, carried out by a heavily armed military against defenseless civilians.

The Sheikh noted that the two-state solution, proposed for over 25 years, remains unimplemented due to the absence of international resolve.
