Northern Cyprus Accuses Israel of Escalating Tensions in Eastern Mediterranean

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus has issued a statement accusing the Israeli regime of pursuing hostile policies that threaten peace and human values in the Eastern Mediterranean. The statement emphasized that Israel, along with Greece and Cyprus, is exacerbating tensions through military alliances rather than fostering stability.
The Northern Cypriot government warned that Israel’s actions represent not only a clear act of hostility but also a serious threat to regional peace. It further accused Southern Cyprus of hypocrisy, alleging that while it claims to seek a resolution to the Cyprus issue, it simultaneously forms military coalitions against Turkey, complicating any potential solution.
Recent reports highlight a meeting in occupied Al-Quds between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Greek Prime Minister, and the President of Cyprus, where they agreed to enhance security and technical cooperation. Netanyahu asserted that their collaboration would achieve peace and stability through strength, while indirectly targeting Turkey by dismissing aspirations of reviving historical empires.
Hebrew media outlets interpreted the meeting as a message to regional actors, particularly Turkey. Additionally, reports from Yedioth Ahronoth revealed plans for a joint rapid reaction force comprising 2,500 ground, air, and naval personnel stationed in Greek islands, Cyprus, and occupied territories, aimed at countering Turkey’s influence.
