Fake Saudi Prince Scams Lebanese Politicians in Elaborate Scheme

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a man in Lebanon falsely claimed to be a Saudi prince and convinced numerous politicians that he could secure them higher political positions in exchange for financial payments. The elaborate scam, which lasted several years, has sparked controversy in the country.
The individual, identified as Khaldoun Aremt, met with Lebanese political figures and falsely asserted that he had connections to high-ranking Saudi officials, including a prince. He then introduced another man, Abu Omar, as the fake prince, who allegedly promised to fulfill the politicians’ demands.
Abu Omar, whose real name is Mustafa Al-Hassan, is a Lebanese car mechanic from Akkar region who speaks fluent Gulf Arabic. He amassed significant wealth through the scheme, even receiving monthly payments from some politicians.
The fraudster also influenced parliamentary and municipal elections, primarily targeting Sunni communities. Abu Omar insisted that the dealings remain hidden from the media and the Saudi embassy. Suspicion arose when he failed to appear at any official Saudi events in Lebanon, leading to his eventual arrest near the border.
