Winter Used as Torture Tool Against Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jails

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are enduring worsening conditions as winter arrives, with cold temperatures being weaponized as a form of torture. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office has issued a stark warning, detailing how the Israeli prison administration employs extreme cold, alongside systematic deprivation, to inflict physical and psychological suffering on detainees.
The report highlights that prisoners are held in damp, overcrowded cells with no heating, while windows are deliberately left open during freezing nights and closed after sunrise to maximize their torment. These actions are part of a broader policy of collective punishment, which includes forced starvation, confiscation of clothing and blankets, and denial of family visits and legal representation.
The Media Office emphasized that the already dire situation for Palestinian prisoners has deteriorated further since Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, with dozens having died under torture. The systematic abuse, described as criminal, reflects the occupying regime’s continued use of inhumane measures to suppress Palestinian detainees.
