Egyptian Official Accuses Netanyahu of Disrupting Second Phase of Gaza Ceasefire

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Organization, has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of actively working to prevent the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Rashad claimed Netanyahu seeks to avoid entering this critical phase while attempting to redirect U.S. President Donald Trump’s focus away from Gaza.
The Egyptian official further asserted that Netanyahu aims to draw other regional areas into crisis beyond Gaza, while simultaneously distancing the U.S. administration from the ceasefire agreement. Evidence suggests the U.S. government has already made decisions regarding the second phase, Rashad noted.
Rashad also alleged that Israel wants stability forces in Gaza to exceed their mandate by taking on Hamas disarmament responsibilities. The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian factions, mediated on October 10, 2023, initially included provisions for humanitarian aid, prisoner releases, and reconstruction, but implementation has faced challenges.
The second phase involves critical elements including further prisoner exchanges, Israeli troop withdrawals from parts of Gaza, and establishing an international stabilization force.
