Over 9,300 Palestinian Prisoners Endure Harsh Conditions in Israeli Detention Centers

A joint statement by Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups reveals severe mistreatment of over 9,300 detainees in Israeli prisons, including systematic violence, medical neglect, and forced starvation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups have reported dire conditions for over 9,300 detainees in Israeli prisons, describing their treatment as a form of ‘gradual execution.’ The statement, based on field visits to multiple detention facilities, highlights an unprecedented escalation in violence, including the use of electric shocks, police dogs, sound bombs, and severe beatings.

The report details that prisoners in Damon Prison are subjected to planned suppression tactics such as tear gas, prolonged use of metal handcuffs, and exposure to extreme cold without access to basic hygiene or medical supplies. Additionally, around 350 child prisoners are denied family visits and medical care, suffering from severe malnutrition, inadequate clothing, and widespread skin and infectious diseases.

Over 1,400 detainees from the Gaza Strip are reportedly enduring torture, medical neglect, and continuous violations of human dignity. The statement also notes that the ‘forced starvation’ policy in Nafha Prison has led to extreme weight loss and physical weakness among inmates, compounded by unsanitary conditions causing outbreaks of scabies and unknown viruses.

The document further highlights the plight of imprisoned leaders, including Ahmad Sa’adat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, who is held in isolation at Jalameh Prison and subjected to severe physical torture resulting in broken ribs and chronic pain.
