Takfiri Group Claims Responsibility for Mosque Bombing in Syria’s Homs

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Takfiri group calling itself Saraya Ansar al-Sunna has claimed responsibility for the bombing at the Imam Ali Mosque in the Alawite-majority neighborhood of Wadi al-Dhahab in Homs, Syria. Preliminary investigations indicate the explosion was caused by planted explosives inside the mosque.
The attack comes amid rising concerns over sectarian violence targeting Syria’s religious minorities. In June, the same group claimed responsibility for an assault on a church in Damascus that killed 22 Christians. Syrian Minister Hamza al-Mustafa, part of the self-proclaimed government, had initially blamed ISIS for the Homs attack.
This year has seen escalating violence in Latakia and As-Suwayda provinces, raising international human rights concerns about minority protections under the Joulani regime.
