Lebanese Politician’s Controversial Post Targets UAE Over Regional Interventions

Walid Jumblatt, former leader of Lebanon’s Progressive Socialist Party, sparked controversy with a now-deleted social media post accusing the UAE of destabilizing actions in Yemen and Sudan, as reported by Arabic 21.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Walid Jumblatt, the former head of Lebanon‘s Progressive Socialist Party, has stirred regional tensions with a since-deleted social media post. The post alleged that an unnamed Arab country with extensive ties to Israel is attempting to encircle Saudi Arabia through Yemen’s Hadramout province. Jumblatt further accused the same nation of fueling unrest in Sudan up to Egypt’s southern borders.

Arabic 21’s report identified the UAE as the country in question, citing its support for southern Yemeni separatists and Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces. The controversy comes amid recent warnings from a Saudi-led alliance about UAE-backed mercenaries and their military movements in Hadramout.
