White House Pushes for Faster Formation of Technocratic Palestinian Government in Gaza

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the White House is pushing for the rapid formation of a technocratic Palestinian government and an international stabilizing force in Gaza. American news outlet Axios, citing sources within the White House, reported that the U.S. government intends to announce the initiative soon, potentially alongside the launch of a Gaza Peace Council during the World Economic Forum in Davos this January.
President Donald Trump is expected to issue several statements on Gaza in early January, but further steps regarding the region’s future will depend on his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago on Monday. Axios described this meeting as critical for determining the fate of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The report also highlighted concerns among White House officials that Netanyahu is slowing the Gaza peace process, while the Israeli leader hopes to align Trump’s views with his more radical positions. Netanyahu recently expressed skepticism during a meeting with influential Republican Senator Lindsey Graham about proposals by senior U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The Mar-a-Lago meeting is seen as pivotal for Gaza’s future, with uncertainty over whether Trump will follow Witkoff and Kushner’s ideas or yield to Netanyahu’s influence. One key message Trump’s team is expected to emphasize is that Netanyahu must move away from war and focus on peace.
Israeli media previously confirmed that Netanyahu will meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the U.S. president’s Florida residence, on Monday afternoon, December 29.
