Syria’s Alawite Supreme Council Calls for Mass Peaceful Protests

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sheikh Ghazal, head of Syria‘s Supreme Islamic Council of Alawites, announced that Syrians will hold peaceful protests across all public squares from noon until 5 PM today. He called on all segments of Syrian society to join the movement.
Sheikh Ghazal emphasized that the Alawite community does not seek civil war but advocates for a federal system to govern Syria. He stated that the current conflict is not merely a dispute between warring factions but an attempt to erase the identity and will of the people through forced submission.
The religious leader warned that silence in the ongoing violence would only lead to increased bloodshed and collapse. He stressed that without immediate international support and fundamental solutions, Syria’s devastation will deepen.
Sheikh Ghazal had previously warned of imminent clashes, holding Damascus responsible for aggressions against Alawites. The call for protests follows a recent terrorist explosion at the Imam Ali Mosque in Homs, which targeted worshippers.
