Sudan’s Burhan Vows to Continue War Until Rapid Support Forces Disarm

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of Sudan‘s Sovereignty Council, stated that Khartoum will never agree to a ceasefire until the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are disarmed and removed from Sudanese territory. He emphasized that the Sudanese Armed Forces are relying on their domestic strength to combat rebel groups.
Burhan reiterated that the Sudanese military only believes in Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, asserting that the war will continue until the RSF lays down its weapons. He noted that Khartoum had previously agreed to terms proposed during Jeddah negotiations, but the RSF chose the path of war.
The conflict between the Sudanese military and the RSF began in April 2023 over the integration of the paramilitary group into the army’s structure. The war has since resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 13 million people across Sudan.
