BBC Faces Fresh Scandal Over Pro-Israeli Propaganda Amid Gaza Genocide Coverage

The BBC has come under severe criticism for distorting public opinion regarding the Israeli regime’s genocide in Gaza, with new reports revealing strict editorial guidelines favoring Israeli narratives and suppressing the term ‘genocide’.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the BBC has been accused of playing a significant role in misleading public perception about the Israeli regime’s atrocities in Gaza. A recent report by Arabi21, citing Middle East Eye, highlights a whistleblower’s video exposing the BBC’s stringent directives to its staff, mandating protection for Israeli narratives and prohibiting the use of the term ‘genocide’ in coverage.

Further investigations by the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) reveal a consistent bias in the BBC’s Gaza war reporting, with the network consistently supporting Israeli narratives while ignoring Palestinian suffering. The BBC has avoided terms like ‘Zionist settlements,’ ‘Gaza blockade,’ and ‘apartheid,’ despite their use in United Nations and Amnesty International documents.

Despite over 70,000 Palestinian casualties, predominantly women and children, the network describes Palestinian victims as mere ‘dead’ or ‘killed’ in airstrikes, omitting any reference to the Israeli regime as the perpetrator. In contrast, Israeli casualties are portrayed with emotionally charged language like ‘slaughtered’ or ‘massacred.’

Over the past two years, the BBC has faced international backlash for its ‘double standards’ in covering Israeli attacks on Gaza, with protests erupting outside its London headquarters. A June 2024 analysis by the Digital Media Studies Centre found that Israeli deaths received 33 times more coverage and more emotive language than deaths in other countries.

Pro-Palestinian guests on BBC programs reportedly face interrogation and pressure to condemn Hamas, while pro-Israeli speakers, many defending Tel Aviv’s war crimes, are treated with deference. In late 2024, over 100 BBC employees signed an open letter warning of the organization’s failure to provide impartial Gaza coverage, citing a culture of fear and editorial double standards.
