Somalia Demands Immediate Reversal of Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Somalia‘s Foreign Minister, Abdusalam Abdi Ali, has issued a statement asserting that the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remain fully intact and are not under any threat. He emphasized that Somalia’s sovereignty, as enshrined in its constitution, parliamentary resolutions, and the positions of its government, is non-negotiable.
Ali strongly criticized Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent state, labeling it as unlawful and a blatant violation of Somali sovereignty. He demanded the immediate reversal of this decision and warned that Somalia would employ all diplomatic and legal measures to defend its independence and territorial unity.
The statement comes after Israel, on Friday, officially recognized Somaliland as a sovereign nation. Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s Foreign Minister, announced that the two sides had signed an agreement to establish full diplomatic relations, including the exchange of ambassadors and the opening of embassies. Sa’ar noted that the agreement followed a year of negotiations.
In a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, the leader of the Somaliland separatists, to visit the occupied territories during a video conference call.
