Yemen Condemns Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland as Threat to Regional Security

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yemen‘s Supreme Political Council has issued a statement condemning Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as an independent entity, describing it as a blatant violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and a direct interference in its internal affairs. The council warned that any Israeli presence or activity in Somali territory would be considered a military target by Yemen’s armed forces.
The statement further emphasized that Israel’s move poses a threat to Yemen’s national security, as well as to the security of Arab and Islamic nations and regional stability. The council called on Red Sea littoral states and the Islamic world to take practical steps to counter Israel’s expanding influence in Somalia and the resulting risks to regional stability.
Reiterating its firm stance against normalization with Israel, the council underscored its support for the rights of Arab and Islamic nations, particularly the Palestinian people, as a frontline defense of Islamic security and dignity.
On Friday, the Israeli regime officially recognized Somaliland as an independent state. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced that the two sides had signed an agreement to establish full diplomatic relations, including the exchange of ambassadors and opening embassies. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also invited Somaliland’s separatist leader, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, for a visit to the occupied territories during a video conference call.
