Israel Eyes Strategic Positions in Somaliland Amid Mossad Involvement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has been actively working to enhance relations between Tel Aviv and Somaliland over the past years, according to a report by the Zionist newspaper Maariv. A military source revealed that Mossad’s chief has focused on securing strategic assets in Somaliland, including key ports and an airport with the longest runway in Africa. These positions provide Israel with expanded operational options, particularly concerning Yemen, and hold significant strategic value for Tel Aviv.
The source added that the Mossad director has established close ties with Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, the leader of Somaliland’s separatist movement. Israel’s controversial recognition of Somaliland has drawn widespread condemnation from regional and international actors, further complicating diplomatic relations in the Horn of Africa.
