Israel Seeks to Replicate Somaliland Model in Southern Yemen, Backing Separatist Council

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv has reported that the Israeli regime is attempting to replicate its Somaliland strategy in southern Yemen by recognizing the UAE-affiliated Southern Transitional Council (STC). The move is part of Israel’s broader effort to forge strategic cooperation in Red Sea coastal areas to counter Yemen’s Ansarullah forces.
Maariv further stated that legitimizing the UAE-backed mercenaries in southern Yemen is intended to create a direct military and intelligence foothold for Israel along the country’s coast, which overlooks the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Additionally, the Arabiya news network cited Hebrew sources yesterday, revealing that the leader of the so-called Southern Transitional Council has held intensive secret talks with Israeli officials. The discussions reportedly aimed to secure international support for the southern Yemen secession project in exchange for recognizing Israel’s occupation policies.
