UAE-Backed Yemeni Official Condemns Saudi Attack on Hadhramaut as Aggressive

A senior UAE-aligned Yemeni official has accused Saudi Arabia of launching an unjustified attack on the civilian area of Mukalla port, as the Saudi-backed Yemeni government severed defense ties with the UAE and ordered Emirati forces to leave within 24 hours.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hani bin Brik, Vice President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in Yemen, condemned Saudi Arabia’s morning assault on the civilian port of Mukalla in Hadhramaut province as an act of aggression under false pretenses. The statement came hours after Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Saudi-backed Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, announced the termination of defense agreements with the UAE, giving Emirati forces one day to evacuate Yemen. Al-Alimi declared a 90-day nationwide state of emergency and a 72-hour suspension of all port and border crossing operations, while ordering Yemeni forces to seize control of all military installations in Hadhramaut and Al Mahra provinces.
