Venezuela Destroys 39 Drug Trafficking Aircraft in 2025, Totaling 430 Since Anti-Drug Law

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that the country’s air force has destroyed 39 drug trafficking planes this year, bringing the total to 430 since the anti-drug law was enacted, with recent operations targeting aircraft in Apure and Amazonas states.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro revealed on national television that the country’s air force has neutralized 39 drug trafficking aircraft in 2025, increasing the total to 430 since the implementation of the anti-drug legislation. Maduro commended the armed forces, regional defense units, and particularly the military aviation and air defense for their efforts, highlighting the downing of the 31st drug plane this year in Apure state just yesterday.

He further detailed that a Venezuelan military aircraft destroyed eight drug planes on Monday in Amazonas state near the Brazilian border, marking the latest in a series of successful interdictions. Meanwhile, U.S. forces have reportedly targeted over 20 boats allegedly used for drug trafficking in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific since September, resulting in at least 83 fatalities.

The U.S. has also deployed the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald Ford, along with other naval assets to the Caribbean, officially as part of anti-drug operations. However, many media outlets speculate that Washington’s true motive is Venezuela’s oil reserves, framing these actions as provocative moves by the Trump administration.
