Egypt Praises Saudi Arabia and UAE’s Constructive Approach to Yemen Developments

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry commended Saudi Arabia and the UAE for their constructive handling of recent developments in Yemen, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s stability and sovereignty.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday night, expressing its close monitoring of the latest developments in Yemen. The ministry praised the constructive approach of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in addressing the situation, emphasizing Cairo’s ongoing high-level diplomatic engagements with all relevant parties to track developments around the clock.

The statement reiterated Egypt’s full confidence in the wisdom of its Saudi and Emirati counterparts in managing Yemen’s developments, a move framed within strengthening fraternal ties and preserving Arab unity during this critical phase. Egypt also lauded the “wisdom of Saudi and Emirati leaders” in constructively addressing Yemen’s current conditions, while reaffirming its commitment to supporting Yemen’s stability, sovereignty, and national interests.

Furthermore, Egypt pledged to spare no effort in continuing consultations with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemeni factions, and other regional and international actors to de-escalate tensions and pave the way for a comprehensive political solution in Yemen. Such a solution, the statement noted, should fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people for a secure and prosperous future while enhancing regional security and stability.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council declared a 72-hour state of emergency across Yemen, imposing flight, maritime, and land movement restrictions. The council also approved a 90-day extendable state of emergency. Additionally, it annulled a mutual defense agreement with the UAE and demanded the withdrawal of all Emirati forces from Yemen within 24 hours.

Since the Saudi-led coalition’s military intervention in Yemen began in 2015, competition between Saudi Arabia and the UAE over influence and control in various regions has persisted. In southern Yemen, proxy forces backed by the two nations have repeatedly clashed, with strategic bases and areas remaining flashpoints for direct confrontations.
