US-Led Coalition Kills, Captures 25 ISIS Members in Syria Operations

American and coalition forces eliminated or detained 25 ISIS operatives across Syria in a series of December operations, CENTCOM confirmed, following President Trump’s pledge to target militants responsible for US troop deaths.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CENTCOM announced that US and international coalition forces killed or captured approximately 25 ISIS members across Syria during operations following a major December 19 offensive. The statement detailed that at least seven militants were killed and others detained across 11 operations conducted between December 20-29.

This comes after US President Donald Trump vowed strikes against terrorists allegedly involved in killing American troops in Syria. CENTCOM had previously confirmed US and Jordanian forces bombed over 70 ISIS targets and headquarters in the country.

American officials told domestic media the Syria campaign may continue for weeks or even months. A US military source disclosed the recent operations employed F-16 fighters, A-10 attack aircraft, and Apache helicopters, with Jordan also deploying F-16s.

Local Syrian sources reported two surface-to-surface missiles were fired from the US base in al-Shaddadi, southern Hasakah toward the Syrian desert, landing near Deir ez-Zor – areas known for ISIS activity. CENTCOM had announced the large-scale ‘Hawk Eye Strike’ anti-ISIS operation on December 20.
