2025 Marks a Bloody Year for Israeli Military with 151 Soldiers Killed

The Israeli military suffered 151 fatalities in 2025, with 91 deaths occurring in combat zones, primarily Gaza, while 21 soldiers died by suicide, highlighting ongoing mental health challenges.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli military faced a particularly deadly year in 2025, with 151 soldiers losing their lives. Combat zones accounted for 91 fatalities, including 81 in Gaza operations, five in the West Bank, one on the Syrian border, one in a Gaza border incident, one from Iranian missile strikes in Be’er Sheva, and two in Nabi Musa operations.

Non-combat deaths included 21 suicides, 15 from illness, 18 in traffic accidents, one from a firearm incident, and five under miscellaneous circumstances. Military analyst Amir Bohbot described 2025 as “an especially bloody year” for the Israeli army, with Gaza battles responsible for most casualties.

Suicides represented 14% of total deaths, with 11 active-duty soldiers, five combat support personnel, and five from logistical units affected. Five victims were undergoing psychological treatment at the time. The Israeli military has labeled the statistics “alarming,” emphasizing efforts to reduce suicides through updated mental health programs, conferences, and command-level initiatives.

Each suicide case undergoes military police investigation, with findings forwarded to human resources for preventive program development. Comparable figures show 21 suicides in 2024 and 14 in 2022 pre-war.
