Ryanair Tops List of Airlines with Most Lost Luggage Complaints, UK Data Shows

Ryanair leads UK airlines in baggage-related complaints, with 954 reports of damaged, lost, or delayed luggage between 2018 and Q3 2022, according to CAA data analyzed by Forbes Advisor.

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ryanair has recorded the highest number of baggage-related complaints among UK airlines, with 954 reports of damaged, lost, or delayed luggage between 2018 and Q3 2022. This figure represents about 4% of the airline’s total 23,000 complaints, most of which relate to flight delays.

British Airways ranks second with 844 baggage complaints, the only non-budget carrier on the list. These account for approximately 6% of its 13,600 total passenger complaints during the same period.

EasyJet follows with 565 baggage complaints (2% of its 29,100 total complaints), while Wizz Air received 552 baggage issues (6% of 8,922 total). Norwegian Air completes the top five with 419 baggage complaints, representing 7% of its 6,061 total complaints and marking the lowest overall complaint volume among the listed airlines.

The data from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, analyzed by Forbes Advisor, underscores that baggage handling remains a persistent challenge in air travel. Passengers are advised to clearly label luggage, carry valuables in cabin bags, and familiarize themselves with airlines’ compensation procedures for lost or damaged items.
