Qatar and Kuwait Respond to Saudi-Emirati Dispute Over Yemen
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar‘s Foreign Ministry released a statement affirming that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states is inseparable from Qatar’s own security. The statement expressed Qatar’s support for the Saudi-backed government in Yemen and the country’s territorial integrity.
The Qatari statement further noted that Doha is closely monitoring developments in Yemen and advocates for protecting the interests of its people. Qatar also welcomed recent statements from the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which emphasized prioritizing regional interests and fostering good neighborly relations.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry similarly declared that the security of Saudi Arabia and GCC nations is fundamental to its national security. Kuwait reiterated its support for the Saudi-backed Yemeni government and commitment to Yemen’s territorial integrity while monitoring the ongoing situation.
The statements follow Saudi Arabia’s recent warning to the UAE to withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours after the UAE provided military support to the Southern Transitional Council. The UAE subsequently announced the end of its military mission in Yemen.
