UAE Faces Social Media Mockery Over Yemen Withdrawal Statement Following Saudi Ultimatum

The UAE’s claim that its forces withdrew from Yemen at its own request has sparked widespread ridicule on social media, coming just hours after Saudi Arabia issued a 24-hour ultimatum for Emirati troops to leave.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the UAE Defense Ministry’s statement claiming its forces ended their mission in Yemen at Abu Dhabi’s own request has triggered a wave of mockery across social media platforms. The announcement came mere hours after Saudi Arabia warned the UAE to withdraw its troops within 24 hours due to Abu Dhabi’s alleged support for southern Yemen separatists.

Saudi Arabia issued the ultimatum yesterday, demanding Emirati forces leave Yemen after accusing the UAE of backing separatist movements. The UAE Defense Ministry subsequently released a statement asserting the mission’s conclusion was voluntarily decided by Abu Dhabi.

Social media users sarcastically highlighted the phrase ‘at the UAE’s own request,’ suggesting the statement attempts to mask Abu Dhabi’s diplomatic setback. Critics noted the announcement appeared drafted as if Saudi Arabia’s warning never occurred, with some users mockingly suggesting the UAE should similarly withdraw ‘at its own request’ from Sudan and Libya.
