UAE-Backed Southern Transitional Council Calls for Rally in Yemen’s Shabwa Amid Rising Tensions

The Southern Transitional Council, aligned with the UAE, has summoned its supporters to gather in Shabwa, southern Yemen, to push for independence, as clashes between UAE and Saudi-backed forces escalate.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), backed by the United Arab Emirates, has issued a call for its supporters to rally in Shabwa, southern Yemen, in support of demands for the region’s independence. The STC emphasized that the gathering aims to bolster calls for southern Yemen’s secession.

This development follows intensified clashes between UAE-backed mercenaries and Saudi-aligned forces in Yemen, as well as growing tensions between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi over the conflict. Anwar al-Tamimi, spokesperson for the STC, stated yesterday that the council’s forces are on high alert and prepared to retaliate against any attacks. “Our forces are at the highest level of readiness and combat capability,” he said. “Any aggression against our troops will be met with a decisive response, and we will never retreat from Hadhramaut and Al Mahra provinces.”

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the UAE’s actions in Yemen as “highly dangerous and outside the framework of the Arab coalition.” The statement demanded the withdrawal of Emirati military forces from Yemen within 24 hours and called for an end to military and financial support for internal factions.
