US and Israel Benefit from Saudi-Emirati Tensions, Says Regional Analyst

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdul Bari Atwan, a prominent regional analyst, has asserted that the United States and Israel are the primary beneficiaries of the growing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. In a detailed analysis, Atwan highlighted that the adversarial forces aim to instigate a conflict between the two Gulf nations, dragging them into a protracted war that would deplete their financial, military, and human resources, ultimately leading to the inevitable collapse of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Atwan described this as an American-Zionist project, which both the UAE and Saudi Arabia have supported, willingly or unwillingly. However, he cautioned that the outcomes of this unexpected conflict could be vastly different, with no clear winner emerging.
The analyst pointed to the recent Saudi airstrikes on two Emirati ships carrying military equipment, weapons, and missiles in the port of Al-Mukalla in Hadhramaut. These shipments were intended for the separatist Southern Transitional Council forces. Atwan emphasized that Riyadh is prepared to take all necessary measures to counter the current situation.
He also noted that the timing of the Saudi-Emirati military clash coincides with Israel’s recognition of Somaliland’s independence in exchange for the forced relocation of at least two million Gazans to the region and the establishment of Israeli military bases there. Atwan argued that this is no coincidence, as the Zionist regime seeks to control abandoned islands in the Red Sea, Socotra, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
Atwan raised critical questions about the potential expansion of the conflict: Will other Gulf and global nations be drawn into the fray? Will Saudi Arabia escalate its involvement by deploying forces to control southern Yemeni cities like Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra, Seiyun, and eventually Aden?
The regional analyst identified the US and the Zionist regime as the clear beneficiaries of these tensions, suggesting they would seek to prolong the conflict to extort both sides and secure arms deals. Atwan concluded that the GCC nations’ gravest mistake was believing that Israel and the US would protect them from regional wars, leading them to disengage entirely from the Palestinian issue and remain neutral in the face of genocides in Gaza, Yemen, and Lebanon. Now, the flames of war threaten to engulf them entirely.
