Ukraine Destroys Two Russian Su-27 Fighters in Attack on Belbek Airfield

Ukrainian special forces’ long-range drones targeted and destroyed two Russian Su-27 jets at the Belbek military airfield in Crimea, with estimated damages totaling $70 million.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ukraine‘s State Security Service (SBU) has successfully carried out a drone strike on Russia’s Belbek military airfield in Crimea, destroying two Su-27 fighter jets. The operation was conducted by long-range drones belonging to the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center.

In a Telegram post, the SBU claimed that the targeted aircraft were hit while one was fully armed and preparing for a combat mission. The estimated cost of the destroyed jets is approximately $70 million.

Reports indicate that the control tower was also damaged in the attack, potentially complicating flight operations at the airfield. This marks the SBU’s second successful strike on Belbek in recent days. On December 18, Ukrainian drones reportedly destroyed Russian military equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars at the same location, including two Nebo-SVU radars, a 92N6 radar from the S-400 Triumph air defense system, a Pantsir-S2 air defense system, and a fully armed MiG-31 aircraft.
