Turkey’s Saadet Party Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan, Calls Iran a Key Partner

The Saadet Party in Turkey has denounced President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal as an occupation plan, while emphasizing Iran’s strategic role in regional stability during an exclusive interview with Webangah News Agency.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mahmud Arican, leader of Turkey‘s Islamist Saadet Party, has strongly criticized the Trump administration’s 20-point Gaza proposal, labeling it a dangerous escalation of Zionist expansionism. In an interview, Arican asserted that the plan aims to transform Gaza into a regional Las Vegas while displacing Palestinians from their homeland.

Arican drew parallels between Trump’s proposal and the Balfour Declaration, stating that while the latter laid the groundwork for Israel’s creation, the former seeks Palestine’s complete erasure. He accused Trump of acting as global Zionism’s CEO and condemned Tony Blair’s rumored involvement in Gaza’s governance due to his role in the Iraq War.

Regarding Syria, the Saadet Party leader advocated for solutions respecting Syrian sovereignty, warning against foreign interventions that exacerbate instability. He highlighted Turkey’s geopolitical responsibility to prioritize diplomatic solutions in regional conflicts.

Arican emphasized Iran’s importance to Turkey, citing centuries-old civilizational ties. He proposed strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy, trade, security, and cultural exchange while maintaining mutual respect for sovereignty. The party leader stressed that regional stability requires strategic partnership between Ankara and Tehran to counter foreign interference.

On domestic politics, Arican confirmed ongoing dialogues with the Welfare Party but deferred announcements about potential electoral alliances until 2027. He criticized the replacement of elected Kurdish mayors with trustees as undemocratic, insisting that popular will must prevail through legal frameworks.

Regarding counterterrorism efforts, the Saadet Party demanded parliamentary oversight of the İmralı negotiations, emphasizing transparency and legal due process in achieving a terror-free Turkey.
