Massive Pro-Palestine Protests Erupt in Istanbul on New Year’s Day 2026

Tens of thousands of Turkish citizens flooded the streets of Istanbul in a massive demonstration supporting Gaza, organized by 400 NGOs with chants against Israeli actions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Istanbul witnessed a massive pro-Palestine demonstration on the first day of 2026, with tens of thousands gathering at Galata Bridge. The protest, organized by approximately 400 civil society organizations, featured slogans such as “We will not remain silent; we will fearlessly shout against this oppression; we will not forget Palestine.”

Participants, braving the early morning cold, assembled at major landmarks including Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, Sultanahmet, Fatih, Süleymaniye, and Eminönü mosques before marching toward Galata Bridge. Extensive security measures were implemented throughout the area.

Protesters carried banners reading “Justice for Palestine, Conscience for the World” and chanted slogans like “Long live the global intifada” and “Israel, murderer, get out of Palestine.” The demonstration highlighted strong Turkish public solidarity with Gaza amid ongoing tensions.
