Russia Vows Retaliation After Ukrainian Attack on Kherson Civilians

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has warned of an imminent Russian retaliation following a Ukrainian strike on Kherson that killed at least 24 civilians, including a child, during New Year’s Eve.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev condemned Ukraine’s attack on civilian areas in Kherson as “a savage and mocking act,” vowing that Moscow’s response would be inevitable. The strike, which targeted a hotel and cafe in the Russian-controlled region, resulted in over 50 injuries alongside the fatalities.

Vladimir Saldo, governor of the Russian-controlled Kherson region, reported through official channels that preliminary figures indicate 24 deaths, with many victims perishing in fires caused by the attack. He emphasized that casualty numbers remain fluid as rescue operations continue.

Medvedev stressed that Russia’s forthcoming military response would specifically target those responsible for orchestrating the strike, including terrorist elements and their commanders. The incident marks one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in the ongoing conflict.
