Saudi Arabia Condemns Southern Transitional Council Leader’s Unilateral Actions in Yemen

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, has strongly criticized the Southern Transitional Council (STC) leader Aidarous al-Zubaidi for taking unilateral actions that undermine peace and stability in Yemen. Al-Jaber emphasized Riyadh’s extensive efforts to support peace, security, and stability in the country, including attempts to facilitate the withdrawal of STC forces from Hadramout and Al-Mahra provinces.
In a post on X, the Saudi ambassador revealed that al-Zubaidi persistently opposed efforts to end tensions in southern Yemen. He described al-Zubaidi’s most dangerous decisions as leading attacks on Hadramout and Al-Mahra. The ambassador also disclosed that al-Zubaidi refused to authorize the landing of a plane carrying an official Saudi delegation to Aden yesterday, despite prior agreements for the delegation to meet with STC leaders to discuss solutions beneficial to all parties.
Al-Jaber further stated that al-Zubaidi directly ordered the closure of flights at Aden airport, an irresponsible act that has caused significant harm to Yemeni citizens. He condemned this move as undermining coordinated political, military, and security efforts, calling it a dangerous escalation that demonstrates a refusal to de-escalate tensions. The ambassador concluded that these actions show the STC leader prioritizes personal political and financial interests over the broader interests of Yemen.
