Financial Times Columnist Criticizes Trump Over Venezuela Operation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Gideon Rachman, a senior columnist at the Financial Times, has criticized the U.S. operation targeting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. In a post on X, Rachman posed a rhetorical question: “What exactly would we say if China conducted a special operation to abduct the leader of Taiwan or if Russia attempted the same with Ukraine’s president? Would we simply say, ‘You can’t do that—it’s illegal’?”
Rachman’s remarks were a direct response to a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed that the U.S. had successfully carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela, alleging the detention of Maduro and his wife.
Caracas has accused Washington of attempting to install a puppet government and seize control of Venezuela’s oil resources. Several countries worldwide have condemned the U.S. action as a violation of the UN Charter and human rights.
